Lucía Velasco has a long professional experience in the general administration of the State, where she has held different responsibilities in several governments, being one of the most recent General Director of the National Observatory of Technology and Society.

In her professional career, she has spent time tanning herself in international consulting, with a clear focus on climate change, corporate governance, and public policy design.

Before joining the government of Spain in 2018, she led the research and social innovation area of an NGO where she incorporated social entrepreneurship initiatives co-designed with young people at risk of exclusion into the foundation's activity.

She is currently a Policy Fellow at the School of Transnational Governance at the European Institute in Florence (EUI) and regularly collaborates as an independent expert with the European Commission and the OECD in the field of the future of work.

She regularly writes in the media and is the author of the book “Is an algorithm going to replace you?” (Turner, 2021).
