Felipe González is one of the key political figures in Spain’s history during the second half of the 20th century. He was the third President of the Government of Spain after the country’s return to democracy in the late 1970s, and he holds the record for the longest tenure in this position, spanning four terms and a total of thirteen and a half years. During his administration (1982-1996), Spain underwent significant modernization and fully integrated into the European community.
