Mònica Ballús, known as “Nika,” is an adventurer, engineer, and entrepreneur born in Barcelona. A true world citizen, she has lived and worked in over seven countries and is fluent in six languages. Her drive to explore and discover new horizons has led her to lead engineering operations in the Amazon jungle, launch startups in Brazil and California, and settle in the Swiss Alps. Nicknamed the “chameleon” by her peers, Nika directs her life according to three principles: Challenge, Learn, and Inspire.
Nika holds three engineering degrees: in Industrial and Computer Engineering from UPC (Spain), Engineering from École Polytechnique (Paris), and an MBA from UC Berkeley Haas School of Business. She set a Guinness World Record in kitesurfing and became the first person to cross Lapland solo in winter with skis, a sled, and a kite, overcoming a severe injury that nearly made her Spain’s first astronaut in 2022. With her characteristic resilience, Nika has once again reinvented herself, achieving significant milestones and leaving an inspiring legacy in each new adventure.
