Who is Pedro Campos?
Entrepreneur and sportsman, Pedro Campos is the most awarded sailor in Spain, Member of the Royal Order of Sporting Merit, and current president of the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo. He has won 16 world championships and 11 Copas del Rey in sailing, being the only one in the world to have won five consecutive world championships, two of them in the same year in different categories.

What has been his professional career? How has he contributed to society?
Born in Cuntis (Pontevedra), after finishing his studies as a naval engineer, he decided to dedicate himself professionally to sailing, after which he won his first national title in the Snipe class at the age of 18, and his first world title in Monaco in 1976. As an entrepreneur, he founded a sailing company that would eventually merge with North Sails, the largest company in the world, and which he would later preside.
As Managing Director of the Desafío Español for the 2005 Ocean Race, skipper of “MAPFRE”, and skipper of the first Spanish team to participate in the America’s Cup in 1992, Pedro Campos has mightily contributed to placing sailing in a privileged place in Spanish sporting world.
Three years after being elected president of the Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo, in 1999, Campos made one of his dreams come true by creating in that Galician town the High-Performance Center for Cruising Sailing, whose mission is to train the sailors who will carry out the generational relay of the next decade.
Distinctions
Pedro Campos' list of sporting triumphs include 16 World Championships, 11 Copas del Rey, 7 Sailing Tours of Spain, 50 absolute victories in International Cruising Regattas and 22 victories in official America's Cup regattas.
Pedro Campos has also been awarded the National Prize for Best Sailor and the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation Special Prize and has been distinguished with the Silver Medal of the Xunta de Galicia and the Order of Olympic Merit, becoming the first non-Olympic athlete to receive it.
