Daniel Goleman, psychologist who is internationally renowned, has also worked as a science journalist specializing in the brain and behavioral sciences for the New York Times. Goleman is the creator of the concept of Emotional Intelligence. Author of the best seller 'Emotional Intelligence'.

What has been his professional career? How has he contributed to society?
Goleman studied psychology at Amherst College and UC Berkeley. He graduated magna cum laude and received a doctoral fellowship to Harvard University. He completed his studies in India with a spiritual guide and returned to Harvard as a visiting professor. There he taught psychology of consciousness during the 1970s. In 1984 the New York Times signed him as a journalist. His leap to the forefront of the world of psychology was with the publication of his book "Emotional Intelligence", which was on the New York Times bestseller list for a year and a half with more than five million copies sold worldwide and translated into 40 languages.
He is co-director of the Consortium for Research on Emotional Intelligence in Organizations based at Rutgers University's Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, an institution that fosters partnerships between academics and practitioners to study the role of emotional intelligence in excellence. He has also contributed to the development of the ESCI (Emotional and Social Competence Inventory), a system for measuring emotional intelligence and developing capabilities in work environments.
Publications
His most renowned title was "Emotional Intelligence", although he has written many other works. The last three he has published are: "Triple Focus", "Focus" and "The Brain and Emotional Intelligence".
Distinctions
He has received many awards for his research, including a Career Achievement Award from the American Psychological Association. He has also been elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and has twice been a Pulitzer Prize nominee.
