Who Is Toni Roldán ?

Toni Roldán is a Spanish economist and former politician recognized for his work on economic policy, European affairs, and the social impact of technology. He is currently the Director of the Esade Centre for Economic Policy and Political Economy (EsadeEcPol) and a Visiting Professor in Practice at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

His current focus lies on how Artificial Intelligence, labor transformation, and geopolitical shifts are redefining Europe’s role in an increasingly complex global landscape. Previously, he served as Economic Spokesperson and Head of Policy for the political party Ciudadanos, and as a Member of Parliament in Spain for three terms. He has also worked for the European Commission, the European Parliament, and the political risk consultancy Eurasia Group.

Toni Roldán has built a distinguished career spanning politics, economics, and research. He served as an economist at the Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs of the European Commission and as Chief Analyst for Southern Europe at Eurasia Group.

As a Member of Parliament, he played a leading role in budget negotiations and in promoting policies focused on efficiency, fairness, and sustainable growth. Today, he leads EsadeEcPol, a think tank dedicated to exploring structural reforms that can strengthen Europe’s competitiveness and social cohesion.

He is co-author of Recuperar el futuro: doce propuestas que cambiarán España (“Recovering the Future: Twelve Proposals to Change Spain”) and a frequent contributor to national and international media. He holds a Master’s in Political Economy from Columbia University and is a PhD candidate in Political Economy at the London School of Economics.
