Alex Mackenzie-Torres is the Global Head of Market Expansion & Internationalisation Strategy at Amazon. He is also an entrepreneur, product and marketing professional based in San Francisco with vast experience in B2C and B2B products. Alex has also lived in Dublin, Rome, New York, Seville and Tokyo. Professionally, he has worked for more than 10 years for Google Inc. where he has exercised different functions in the Product Marketing and Product Management organizations launching new products like Google Site Search and new Google Search Appliance versions. Other career highlights include funding the first worldwide Google Local community team and starting Product Marketing operations in Japan and Latin America for Google Enterprise (now Google for Work).
Alex holds several degrees in different fields including an M.A. in Advertising and PR; M.Sc. in Philosophy and B.Sc. in Communications.
After 12 years of experience working at important enterprises, Alex Mackenzie has successfully made his way in the Product and Marketing business all through the American continent. Currently, he lives in San Francisco, California where he works as Global Head of Market Expansion & Internationalisation Strategy, at Amazon. He has also worked at Toyota AI Ventures leading the Business Development and Innovation initiatives for Toyota worldwide.
As part of his entrepreneur spirit, he is still serving as an advisor on innovation, branding, internationalization, product management, and M&A for several CEOs. He also owns a consulting firm called 360consulto since 2016. He has previously worked as CMO at Moovit, a trip planner mobile app which enables users to monitor public transportation arrivals in real time. He also worked for nearly 10 years at Google HQ (2008-2014) where he led a number of initiatives related to user generated content for Google Maps focusing on product quality, user engagement, and sustainable engagement solutions and being an active member for several company acquisitions (Zagat, Frommers and Waze).
In addition, he has worked as Latin America Regional Product Marketing Manager Lead (2009- 2011), Japan Acting Regional Product Marketing Manager Lead (2009), US Enterprise Search Product Marketing Manager (2008-2009), and EMEA Project Manager -Internal Communications, Business Strategy and Operations- (2004-2007).
