Albert Rivera is a Spanish politician and lawyer, President of the Ciudadanos Party (2006-2019), a member of the Spanish Parliament (2016-2019) and of the Catalan Parliament (2006-2015). In November 2019, after disappointing results in the elections, Rivera resigned from his position as President of the Citizens Party, and from his seat in the Congress of Deputies and retired from politics. Since March 2020, he rejoined the private sector and started working as Executive President of the Martínez Echevarría law firm.

Under his Presidency, the Ciudadanos Party went from being a party founded in Catalonia, to having an important role in the Spanish political arena, getting to position itself as the third national political force and being one of the strongest parties of the European Liberal group, consolidating a process of transformation and growth without comparison.

In his lectures, and throughout his career, Rivera offers insights in to the most important elements of great entrepreneurship. Having a vision, putting it into action with hardly any resources, disrupting a sector as mature as politics without appealing to populism and becoming one of the main political players in the country, reviewing the most relevant successes and mistakes and extracting lessons applicable to any sector. In addition, Rivera masterfully addresses issues related to new forms of public communication.

From his position as President of the Ciudadanos party, Albert Rivera has been tireless in the defense of regeneration and the fight against corruption, principles applicable to society and business. With proposals to support entrepreneurs, he has always been committed to innovation, employment generation and the creation of technological hubs internationally.

After his first appointment as President of the Citizens party at their inaugural congress in 2006, Albert Rivera was subsequently re-elected three times, in 2007, 2011 and 2017. Prior to his political career, he worked as a legal advisor at La Caixa Bank(2003-2006).

Albert Rivera holds a degree in Law and a Masters in Business Law from ESADE. He studied under the Erasmus program at the University of Helsinki (Finland) in 2001 and in 2009 he studied Political Marketing at the prestigious George Washington University in the USA. During his university years, he won the National University Debate League.
