Xesco Espar is a specialist in managing elite teams. Among his skills are dealing with motivation, inspiration and values in high performance sport teams.
In his book Playing with The Heart: Excellence Is Not Enough, Espar argues that to achieve excellence, it is necessary to train but to surpass it it's indispensable to be transformed: to face each problem as a challenge, as a path that leads to growth. With all this in mind he uses examples from his experience as coach based on his particular philosophy.
Thus, Espar helps us answer questions like: How to challenge fate when others start with an advantage? How to increase the maximum upper limit of performance? Or: How to deal with life when excellence is not enough?
In addition, his book argues that the secret to high-level objectives resides not in the head but the heart, inl listening to what we want and not just in what we think. The head makes the analysis and the heart houses the desires that makes us act. Talent is a must, but the will to meet challenges and overcome failures is in the heart.
In his first season as coach of Barcelona’s Handball Team, Espar won the European Cup. Later, he won the Spanish League, the Spanish Super Cup and the Spanish Cup.
