Manuel Muñiz is a prominent academic, diplomat, and expert in international relations with extensive experience in teaching and managing high-level institutions. He is currently the Provost of IE University in Madrid, a Professor of Practice of International Relations, and the Dean of IE School of Politics, Economics & Global Affairs. In 2023, he was elected President of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA), a global network of leading schools of policy and global affairs, and appointed Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution’s Foreign Policy Program. His career focuses on innovation, disruption, political economy, and global governance.
Manuel Muñiz has combined top-level academic roles with significant diplomatic responsibilities. He served as State Secretary at the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2020–2021), where he led the 2021–2024 Foreign Policy Strategy, Spain’s OECD Ministerial Presidency, and the National Strategy on Technology and Global Order. His academic roles include positions at Harvard, IE University, and other prestigious institutions. He holds a DPhil in International Relations from the University of Oxford and has received accolades such as the David Rockefeller Fellowship and the Munich Young Leader Fellowship.
