Pranav Mistry is an Indian scientist specialized in new technologies, currently working for Samsung Research in America, where he chairs the Think Tank Team and the research department. He is also known as the creator of Sixth Sense .
Mistry started out in the world of computer and digital technology at UX Microsoft Research and with his later master's degree at MIT Media Lab in Massachusetts. There, he developed some projects such as: the Mussless ; a kind of invisible mouse for personal computers, Sparsh; which allows to copy and paste information from one device to another, BlinkBot ; a robot that is controlled through glasses that are able to recognize the look and blink of the user, a pen capable of drawing in 3D, among other other inventions.
Before joining Samsung, he had already worked for major technological institutions such as Google, NASA, CMU, UNESCO and Japan's Science and Technology Agency.
His career as a recognized scientist began in 2009, when he finished setting up the Sixth Sense interface, which allows digital information to be manipulated with manual gestures . This project made him the winner of the 2009 Popular Science Invention Award .
In 2010 he was recognized by Creative Magazine as one of the top 50 scientists from around the world and in 2011, among the top 15 Asian inventors and scientists according to Asian Scientist magazine. Other Indian magazines also dedicated Pranav Mistry a space in them to recognize him as one of the most powerful Indians in the digital world and with more future.
In 2012 he joined Samsung as Director of Research. In 2013 he developed the smart watch Samsung Galaxy Gear and received the Young Global Leader Award in 2013 by the World Economic Forum.
Since 2019 he works as CEO and President of Samsung Star Labs.
