Juan Manuel López Iturriaga is the only Spanish basketball player to have been international in the categories of mini-basketball, youth, junior and men’s basketball. He has a track record that is hard to beat: two European Cups, a European Cup Winners’ Cup, a Korac Cup, seven ACB Leagues and three Copas del Rey (King’s Cups). The jewels in the crown are the silver medals won at the Los Angeles Olympic Games and at Eurobasket in Nantes.

Along with this extensive sporting career he has subsequently worked in the world of communication and business which gives him outstanding insight into elite teams and top-level competition. He is able to effectively and accessibly transfer his experiences in basketball so that they can be used in business, in particular, for building work teams. In his highly sought-after talks he deals with topics related to motivation, reinventing ourselves, adapting to change and positive spirit.

He has published the book Antes de que se me olvide, (Before I Forget) in which he recounts events from his career to do with the development of corporate teams.

Iturriaga has also hosted several television programs and worked with various media, including La Sexta (Spanish national TV channel 6), Cadena SER (Spain’s premier radio network, on the talk show La Ventana); the newspaper El País (for which he also writes the sports blog El Palomero) and the magazine Gigantes del Basket (Basketball Giants). He also takes part in broadcasts of ACB League games.

As a speaker he specializes in communication in organizations, entrepreneurship and developing high-performance teams. In his talks Juan emphasizes the importance of communication: he explains how to assess communication flows in businesses, highlights the features of effective communication, explains communication channels in detail and focuses on the responsibility leaders have in establishing and maintaining these channels.
