Who is Isabel Garro?
Isabel Garro is an economist who challenges the conventional. After graduating in Business Administration and Management, she soon realized that theory was far from the reality of the labor world. With an insatiable thirst for knowledge and driven by her relentless curiosity and her desire to reinvent the business world, she delved into the field of sustainability when it was still an unknown concept for most.
Her professional career is as diverse as it is exciting. She has worked in the three pillars of the economy: public sector, private sector, and civil society, holding high-level positions in the Government of Spain and in the United Nations' leading sustainability initiative. She is currently working as Chief Sustainability Officer for Votorantim Cimentos.

What is her trajectory?
Isabel Garro is a recognized expert in sustainable development. Her extensive experience in this field has led her to co-lead Spain's commitments in this area, from the forefront of the main competent bodies, such as Special Advisor to the High Commissioner for Agenda 2030 in the Presidency of the Government of Spain, or as the general director of the Spanish Network of the United Nations Global Compact for 14 years.
As one of the national scene's leading specialists in Agenda 2030, Isabel has held top-level responsibilities as the Spanish representative in this area before the Council of the European Union. In addition, she has chaired the Advisory Group of Local Networks of the UN Global Compact and has been a member of the Advisory Committee of Transparency International Spain and the Ethics Council of Auchan Spain.
Currently, Isabel Garro is Chief Sustainability Officer at Votorantim Cimentos and associate professor of Strategic Management at IE Business School and of Competitive Social Transformation at the Complutense University of Madrid.
Isabel Garro holds a double Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Brown University and IE Business School. Garro has a degree in Business Administration from the Comillas University-ICADE (Madrid) and holds a title in Executive Education in Strategic Management and Leadership from IESE Business School.
