As a nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council, her expertise spans U.S. Middle East policy, cybersecurity, counterterrorism, and diversity in policymaking.

Abercrombie-Winstanley began her diplomatic career with postings in Baghdad, Jakarta, and Cairo before becoming the Special Assistant to the Secretary of State for the Middle East and Africa. She later served as the first woman to lead a diplomatic mission in Saudi Arabia, where she actively promoted gender equality. Throughout her career, she has held key roles in U.S. foreign policy, including advising U.S. cyber forces and coordinating the largest U.S. evacuation from a war zone since World War II.
