John Andrews, Consulting Editor for The Economist and co-editor of “The World in 2050”, is one of the world’s most experienced foreign correspondents on global strategy and business. With a career spanning over 25 years at The Economist, he has covered major events in emerging markets and political and economic developments worldwide.
Across a 24-year career as The Economist’s most senior foreign correspondent, he held leadership roles including Industry Editor and Asia Editor, with foreign postings spanning Singapore, Hong Kong, Brussels, Washington D.C., Paris, and Los Angeles. He currently serves as a Contributing Editor for The Economist and acts as a head tutor for Economist Education. He also served as Editor of the annual The World In magazine. Prior to joining The Economist, he worked for The Guardian and as an NBC correspondent in Beirut, covering the Middle East.
A former Hearst Journalism Fellow at USC’s Annenberg School of Communication, Andrews is a frequent broadcaster, public speaker, and moderator at international forums like the World Policy Conference, regularly engaging with global political and business leaders. He also serves on the senior advisory board of Santé Ventures, a U.S. healthcare venture capital firm.
He is the author of The World in Conflict: Understanding the World’s Troublespots, a comprehensive analysis of contemporary conflicts, and co-editor of Megachange: The World in 2050, exploring the trends shaping the future.
