Thinking Heads Launches in Portugal with a Debate on the Power of Ideas

The arrival of our Experts Division in Portugal amplifies and expands the scope of our mission: to give a voice to those who inspire, clarify, and transform ideas into real impact.

On Tuesday, September 23, at BUGIO in Oeiras, we celebrated the launch of our Speakers Business in Portugal in partnership with AMP Associates, at an event that brought together global leaders and prominent voices. With more than 20 years of experience and a worldwide network of over 5,000 speakers, this alliance strengthens our international growth strategy, consolidates our leadership across the Iberian Peninsula, and connects Portuguese organizations with the world’s most influential thought leaders.

Daniel Romero-Abreu, President and Founder of Thinking Heads, underscored the organization’s commitment to continuous improvement and to expanding its talent network, emphasizing that the entry into Portugal broadens our ability to generate positive impact in new markets.

Rita Serrabulho, CEO of AMP Associates and Principal of Thinking Heads Speakers Portugal, highlighted the significance of this milestone for the industry: “We will create easier and better access to these individuals and to the knowledge they embody. At a time when inspiration and the exchange of ideas are crucial for the progress of both business and society, this platform offers a window into the world and direct access to the leading voices shaping global thought.”

And how best to mark the arrival of Thinking Heads Experts in Portugal?

By doing what we do best: bringing together world-class experts to discuss the ideas that move the world forward. We hosted a roundtable discussion, “The Power of Knowledge in a New World Order,” featuring:

  • Paulo Portas, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal (2011–2015), pioneer of economic diplomacy.
  • Guta Moura Guedes, cultural manager and journalist; co-founder and President of the design association Experimenta since 2000.
  • Álvaro Beleza, physician, Director of the Blood Service at Hospital de Santa Maria, President of the coordinating council of SEDES (Association for Economic and Social Development), and President of the General Council of the University of Algarve.

Paulo Portas warned of the risks of entering an era where the line between truth and falsehood is blurred, stressing that culture is the true antidote against the brutalization of public debate. He also underlined that “when it comes to artificial intelligence, we must resist simplifications: nothing is absolutely positive or absolutely negative.”

Álvaro Beleza emphasized the accelerating pace of scientific progress, which is opening doors to more and more people, and noted that “Portugal has the conditions to be a global bridge, a strategic hub rather than a peripheral player.”

Guta Moura Guedes argued that culture provides the essential foundation for dialogue and understanding at one of humanity’s most challenging moments, adding that “with a systemic perspective on change, progress becomes possible.”

Closing the event, Iván Abanades, Partner and Director of the Experts Division at Thinking Heads, highlighted the value this new alliance brings to the Portuguese market by connecting companies, institutions, and universities with a global community of experts, with the goal of sharing cutting-edge knowledge and enriching the national public dialogue.
