Ricardo Baptista Leite is a physician, politician, and global health leader. He is currently the CEO of HealthAI – The Global Agency for Responsible AI in Health, a Geneva-based organization dedicated to the ethical integration of artificial intelligence in health systems. A former Member of the Portuguese Parliament for over a decade, he is internationally recognized for his work on HIV/AIDS, digital health policy, and health systems strengthening. He is also a Professor of Global Public Health at the Portuguese Catholic University and serves on several international health boards.
He graduated in Medicine from the University of Lisbon and specialized in infectious diseases in Canada, where he worked in leading hospitals. Upon returning to Portugal, he combined medical practice with political activity, serving as a Member of Parliament with a particular focus on public health, digital health innovation, and preventive policies. He was Vice-Chair of the Parliamentary Health Committee and represented Portugal in international organizations. He is the founder of UNITE – Parliamentarians Network to End Infectious Diseases and a member of Chatham House (Royal Institute of International Affairs). In 2023, he became CEO of HealthAI, further strengthening his role in bridging science, technology, and global health policy.
