Duarte Cordeiro is a Portuguese economist and politician, former Minister for the Environment and Climate Action (2022–2024). Recognized for his central role in shaping public policies on energy transition and climate change, he stood out for his ability to align national measures with European and international commitments. He is currently a Partner at Shiftify – Sustainability Strategies, where he works with organizations to accelerate green strategies and create value in hard-to-decarbonize sectors.
He holds a degree in Economics from ISEG and a postgraduate degree in Business Management from ISCTE. His political career began in the Socialist Youth, where he served as Secretary-General. He was a Member of Parliament, City Councillor, and later Deputy Mayor of Lisbon, with responsibilities in areas such as economy, innovation, sports, and public space. In 2019, he joined the Government as Deputy Secretary of State for Parliamentary Affairs and subsequently as Secretary of State for Parliamentary Affairs. From 2022 to 2024, he served as Minister for the Environment and Climate Action, leading national policies on decarbonization, renewable energy, sustainable mobility, and water resource management.
